Life in the Slow Lane
A lax leisure walk, a slow scenic drive, breakfast without checking the clock: slow is good. Here are three tips for living life slowly.
Be nice to yourself
Slowing down will translate to being nicer to yourself. Youโre allowed to just relax. Youโre allowed to simply sit on the couch with a cup of tea. Or once in a while, turn down an invite to keep yourself company instead.
Take your time
You canโt make more time, but you can take time and make it yours. Hereโs a tip to do just that: Plan more time than you initially need. So, leave for an appointment half an hour earlier and relax once you arrive early. You can stretch your time by considering an obligation not as something to be done strictly; sure itโs something that must be done, but you can do it at your own pace if you plan accordingly.
Take a break
We were designed to rest so take a break. Taking a break helps you to let go of what you were doing momentarily and recharge to either do it or again or complete it in the first place. Moreover, itโs remarkable how often you think youโre achieving more by working nonstop at it, whereas in reality your productivity is decreasing. So take your time eating lunch, slow down a conversation to truly enjoy it, and go out for a walk as often as youโd like.
